2 – HAZARDS(S) IDENTIFICATION

This product may contain crystalline silica, a known carcinogen.

Cancer Hazard. Contains quartz which can cause cancer. Risk of cancer depends upon duration and level of exposure. Not an acute hazard. May cause mechanical eye or skin irritation in high concentrations. Prolonged inhalation may cause lung injury.

Ingestion: Small amounts of ingestion during normal handling is not likely to cause harmful effects. Swallowing large amounts may be harmful.
Chronic: Crystalline silica is listed by IARC as a Group 1 Carcinogen “sufficient evidence of carcinogenicity in humans”, and is listed by NTP as K, “Known to be a Human carcinogen”. Chronic exposure to lungs may cause asthma and/or chronic lung disease.

Toxicity Data:

Under normal use and following manufacturers recommendations for personal protective equipment, the product is not toxic.

Precautions:

Avoid generation of large quantities of dust, especially in confined spaces with inadequate ventilation.

PPE:

(Personal Protective Equipment) The use of safety glasses with side shields is recommended when dust, or the potential for dust exists. Also, the use of NIOSH approved dust masks and gloves are not required, but recommended when handling this product and dust is present.

4 – FIRST AID

Inhalation: If high concentration is inhaled and mechanical irritation or discomfort occurs, allow victim to rest in a well ventilated area. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
Ingestion: This product is intended for industrial applications; in the unlikely event that this product is swallowed, consult a physician if any adverse medical conditions occur.
Eye contact: Immediately irrigate with clean water or neutral saline solution. If irritation persists, seek medical attention.
Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing and rinse affected areas with clean running water. Use soap if necessary.

6 – ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Small Spill: Use a vacuum to clean up spillage.
Large Spill: Use mechanical means to remove spilled materials and dispose of in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Use a water spray to control dust

7 – HANDLING AND STORAGE

Handling procedures: Minimize generation of dust during handling. In enclosed environments, appropriate ventilation is recommended. Use NIOS approved respiratory protection when any dust is generated. Clean all spills promptly. Handle in a way which minimizes dust generation. Ensure that all areas where this product is handled are free of spills and dust.
Storage: Store in a dry location, suitable for general storage areas. Keep product containers closed. Keep out of the reach of children.

11 – TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Rout of entry: Inhalation, Ingestion
Effects of acute exposure: Airborne dust particles may cause irritation to nose, throat, eyes, and lungs.
Effects of chronic exposure: Crystalline silica is listed by IARC as a Group 1 Carcinogen “sufficient evidence of carcinogenicity in humans”, and is listed by NTP as K, “Known to be a Human carcinogen”. Chronic exposure to lungs may cause asthma and/or chronic lung disease.
Sensitization to the product: CRYSTALLINE SILICA: Overexposure to respirable crystalline silica dust can cause silicosis, a form of progressive pulmonary fibrosis. “Inhalable” crystalline silica (quartz) is listed by IARC as a Group 1 carcinogen (lung) based on “sufficient evidence” in occupationally exposed humans and sufficient evidence in animals. Crystalline silica is also listed by the NTP as a known human carcinogen. Excessive exposure to any dust may aggravate pre-existing respiratory conditions.
TSCA (Toxic Substance Control Act) This substance or all the ingredients of this product are on the Chemical Substances Inventory of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA Inventory). The presence on this list does not require any legal reporting.
